Ruth S. Estimar, MD, FPSO-HNS
Dr. Ruth Estimar is board certified in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
Dr. Estimar is currently the Technical Advisor of the MIMAROPA Region for the National Newborn Hearing Screening Program, the Public Relations Officer of the PSO-HNS Southern Tagalog Chapter, and is a member of the PSO-HNS Research Sub-committee. She is also the Unit Manager of the Operating Room Complex of the Adventist Hospital-Palawan.
She comes from Bacolod City and graduated top of her class in both elementary and high school. She was eventually accepted to the Intarmed program of the University of the Philippines-College of Medicine (this is an accelerated 7-year straight medical program for the top 40 qualified students from all over the country).
After her internship, she subsequently trained at the prestigious Philippine General Hospital- Department of Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery, which is the national university hospital. This residency program is generally regarded as one of the best in the country. While there, she trained with some of the national leaders and authorities in all avenues of otolaryngology.
After graduation, Dr. Estimar was chosen to be the chief resident of the department, performing as a liaison between the residents and consultants, as well as representing the department in all meetings with other departments in the national university hospital.
Dr. Estimar specializes in head and neck cancer surgery, thyroid surgery, facial trauma surgery, hearing and balance disorders, voice and throat disorders, nasal obstruction and endoscopic sinus surgery.
She has won in national research contests in national conferences in otolaryngology and has published papers in peer-reviewed journals. She is also actively involved in training younger medical peers as well, having been involved in the residency training program in Bacolod City, and the internship program in Palawan Adventist Hospital.
